Pricing

Simple pricing. Start with what you need today.

Your subscription always covers two academic years: the current year available immediately, and the following year delivered automatically when the collection pipeline runs each May. Add a historical archive once — and pay less every year going forwards. All prices exclude VAT.

Annual subscriptions

Current data. All 208 LEAs. All four nations.

Both plans cover all 208 UK Local Education Authorities across all four nations. Your subscription includes the current academic year from day one, and the following year's data is delivered to your account automatically when the annual pipeline completes each May — so whenever you join, you always have a full forward calendar. The only difference between Essential and Professional is whether you need pupil population data and pre-calculated demand signals.

One-off historical data

Buy the archive once. Pay less every year.

The historical archive is a one-time purchase — not a subscription. You buy it once, we deliver it, and it's yours. The only thing that renews is your annual subscription for ongoing current data.

Archive prices increase by approximately £250 each May as a further academic year is added to the dataset. Current prices are guaranteed until 31 May 2026.

FAQ

Common questions.

Do prices include VAT?
All prices shown exclude VAT. VAT will be added at the applicable rate for UK-based customers. International customers should check their local requirements.
How does the archive discount work?
When you purchase either historical archive, you receive a permanent 20% discount on your annual subscription — Essential or Professional — applied at every renewal for as long as you remain a subscriber. If you later upgrade from Essential to Professional, the discount carries over. The discount is applied automatically; no code or manual request is needed.
Why does the archive price increase each year?
Each May, Semestern runs its annual collection pipeline and adds a new academic year to the dataset. The archive becomes larger and more valuable each year, so the price reflects that. Current prices are guaranteed until 31 May 2026 — purchasing before then locks in the current rate.
Can I buy an archive without a subscription?
No. The archive is a bolt-on to an active annual subscription. The subscription provides your API access, current year data, and ongoing annual updates — the archive extends that with historical depth. Both are required to access the data.
Which academic years does my subscription cover?
Your subscription always covers two academic years. The current academic year is available in your account from the moment you sign up — it was collected in the previous May pipeline run and is ready immediately. The following academic year's data is delivered automatically to all active subscribers when the annual collection pipeline completes each May.

This means the timing of when you join does not affect your access. A subscriber joining in September has the current year immediately and receives the next year the following May. A subscriber joining in April has the current year immediately and receives the next year within weeks.
If I subscribe in May, which years do I get?
May is the best time to join. The annual collection pipeline runs throughout May, collecting the following academic year's data from all 208 LEA websites. All subscribers receive the new year's data by 31 May of the collection year.

A subscriber joining in May 2026 receives 2025-26 immediately and 2026-27 by 31 May 2026 — potentially within days of signing up, depending on when in May the pipeline completes for their nations.

Your subscription anniversary and the May data update are deliberately decoupled. You do not need to renew in May to receive new data — it is delivered to all active subscribers automatically, regardless of when their subscription started.
Is the data updated automatically?
Yes. Annual data collection runs each May. Your subscription automatically includes the new academic year's data. All subscribers receive an email notification when new data is available. The archive does not need updating — it is a fixed historical record delivered at the time of purchase, with new years added to the archive price going forwards.
